Leterrier Residence, 1927

Unknown Architect

This Beachwood Canyon Mediterranean located under the famed Hollywood sign has undergone numerous remodels since being built in 1927.

New windows and doors were installed to capture the views of downtown and the city below. Custom hand forged window and door hardware from Belgium was installed to give the homeowners, who are french, a feeling of old European charm.

Seeking the crisp look of homes from Morocco, Greece, Spain, and Mexico the walls were painted stark white to serve as a backdrop for the architecture and the owner’s furnishings and art.

The bathroom floor tile is Moroccan in influence and simple wall tile was inset flush with the walls surface. The sinks and master bathroom tub were imported from England.

The pierced window in the powder room was newly constructed and repeated in several rooms to tie together the Moorish elements.

An unused side porch was turned into an outdoor room with built-in concrete seating, custom cushions and pillows, and a fireplace to take advantage of the great California weather the owners have become accustomed to.
